FlexHeat Cable converts electricity into heat with almost 100% efficiency, so the running costs of a system depend largely on the room’s insulation and the target temperature.

The better insulated a room is the less expensive it will cost to operate the heating system, with the largest benefit being obtained in installing thermal insulation boards directly beneath the FlexHeat Cable itself.

When installing FlexHeat Cable at an output of 150W/sqm onto a well-insulated floor, we would expect the heating system to operate on average for less than 40% of the time to provide a total heating system. With electricity costs of 10 pence per kilowatt hour this would lead to running costs of around 0.6 pence per hour when the heating system is running.

Assumptions made for the above calculations:

The FlexHeat Cable has been installed at an output of 150W/sqm.

The cable is installed on top of 10mm thermal insulation board, beneath standard ceramic tiles.

100% of the floor is covered with underfloor heating.

The insulation in the property is up to the current Part L regulations.

The price for electricity is an average of 10p per kilowatt hour.

The system is run via Heat Mats Part L Compliant 4th Generation NGT thermostat, with the anticipatory setting enabled.

The system is operating while the average ambient temperature is 10oC, and the system is heating the room on average for ten hours a day

If you have watched popular housing programmes over the past decade, you can be forgiven for thinking that the interior decoration of a house should be monotone magnolia and all the exterior needs is a hanging basket! This may be true if you are hoping to sell your property in the near future because buyers prefer a `blank canvas,` but if you want to make your house your home, there are lots of options available which will help tailor it to your own style.
When redecorating or refurbishing the interior of your house firstly consider the exterior! What sort of house do you live in and what type of time period or theme does it lend itself to? If you are lucky enough to live by the seaside, complement the natural scenery around you with a light and airy feel to the inside of the house. Use a palate of sea and summer colours, such as yellow walls and blue carpets. Decorate with nautical themed artifacts for full effect. If you prefer the contemporary look, opt for a minimum of colours combined with simple lines to create a clean effect. This type of decoration is best suited to urban city dwellers and young professionals, as it is the simplicity that makes it impressive and it needs to remain free from clutter.
If you have children or pets, choose scuff-resistant furniture and coloured or patterned carpets for obvious reasons: spilt drinks, dirty shoes and paws can create havoc on a pristine white carpet! Your home can be both practical and aesthetically attractive, so ask for a free consultation with a qualified and experienced painting and decorating company. Their expertise can assist you in producing a plan and selecting the best materials for your needs. A reliable and trust-worthy company will be able to produce client testimonials and be happy to work for you to create your dream home.
Owners of older houses can use their history to create a matching exterior and interior. Opt for traditional English woods such as oak and beech within the house and take colour influences from the stained glass windows and doors traditionally found in this type of home. If you wish to update your windows and doors for security and eco-friendly energy saving, you can select natural wood double glazing, which is particularly suited to homes within conservation areas. Stained glass panes can be removed from old items and sealed within double glazing units, so you can still enjoy all the beauty and light from the intricate designs and use these colours throughout the house. Refurbishing and redecorating does not mean stripping away history but rather incorporating it within improved modern day products.
In most homes nowadays people are making room for all the latest technology and gadgets which can turn a sitting room into a movie theater within minutes! A range of furniture is available that includes handy additions such as drinks holders and remote control storage. For the ultimate relaxation, choose a “http://www.sofasandsectionals.com”>leather reclining sofa to sink in to after a busy day at work. Just imagine, kicking your shoes off, pouring your favourite drink and relaxing back in plush comfort. Total relaxation in your perfect surroundings! What could be better than that? Enjoy!

Have you got some DIY in mind this weekend? Traditionally, the Bank Holidays see many people heading to the DIY stores to embark on home improvement projects.
Make sure you’re prepared, as a 2010 report from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents highlighted some potential personal costs for DIY that some may not have factored in to their projects. According to the research, over 220,000 people in the UK visit hospitals each year as the result of an accident sustained whilst doing DIY! Over 87,000 of these are the result of injuries from tools and machinery.
Don’t worry, accidents can easily be avoided by getting the right tools and materials for the job, and DIY stores will be happy to offer advice. Time-planning to avoid working late into the night helps, too.
If you want to avoid the risk entirely, why not take away the hassle and employ a trusted professional? Give us a call. The work will be done on time, to a high standard – and you can have your weekend back
